Great content, terrible presentation

I love the Unicom books for JLPT study. They are pithy and well-organized. I actually bought the paper version of this and somehow ordered the Kindle version by accident. The content is most excellent, but the formatting is absolutely ghastly. You would at least expect a decent table of contents, but the type sizes change at random, there's no English translation for the entries, and there's no index. Better to stick with paper until the publisher can fix the ebook problems. In any case, textbooks like this are better presented as PDFs, which can be more efficiently bookmarked and annotated.

About the Author
Julia T. Wood is the Lineberger Distinguished Professor of Humanities Emerita at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She joined the university at the age of 24. While on the faculty, she was named the Lineberger Distinguished Professor of Humanities and the Caroline H. and Thomas S. Royster Distinguished Professor of Graduate Education. The author of 17 books, she has edited 10 other books, published more than 100 articles and book chapters and presented numerous papers at professional conferences. It also discusses various techniques employed to found structures on expansive soils such as drilled pier foundation, mat foundation, moisture control, soil replacement, and chemical stabilization. Part II presents six detailed case studies. A considerable amount of new material has been incorporated into each chapter of this revised edition, particularly on highway pavement and soil suction.

read it, just dont expect anything.

I read the first series of books that his story talks about. I need to stop doing that, its my third time and its always been a let down. shes a great author and the story of them getting together is awesome. but this, his POV was empty. he stopped as soon as she was there. the author could have picked up on the life after they get together - up until the daughters story takes off. sorry, just my honest opinion.

there was less love and ecstasy

Annie does it again! This book was a little different than the writings of the other nine books in this series. It had a more serious vibe to it, there was less love and ecstasy, but I think that it fit the requirement. This was a 'bring it all together' - the trilogy starts at the morning after a one night stand and touch on the events that lead up to Ryan meeting his soul mate, but this book gave us Ryan's aspect of what happened in the pre-Iris days. It annoyed me at Ryan's submission to Alexis' manipulations, but only proves the type of heart he has and how the lifetime of pain has affected him. He is on the top of my book boyfriend list! If you haven't read the 2nd and 3rd trilogies in this series, you are truly missing out! Thank you Annie -- can't wait for the 2nd book in the Exposure series!

Susan R. Greenwald is an educator with many years of success teaching math facts and mathematics skills. She has written five math books.

Two plus Two is Not Five

This book was so helpful to me at at time when my child was failing timed math tests at age 7- big F's on his papers- he started calling himself stupid and saying he was "bad in math." I was told to do more games and flash cards- but the systematic program and tricks in this book were really helpful. I thought this author amazing- she personally corresponded to me during a difficult time. I really recommend this book for any family struggling with what comes easy to some children- there is more than one way to learn math facts- and this was very helpful. I highly recommend.

Good tutoring aid.

This is a wonderful book for someone wanting to help a child who seems unable to "just" memorize the addition and subtraction facts. There are so many strategies that work so well. Plus, the fact that it is okay to copy the worksheets makes this rather expensive book a real bargain!

Math facts with a twist

As an 17+ year teacher of students with learning disabilities and a college instructor to pre-service and in-service teachers, I recommend Two Plus Two is Not Five as the resource for teaching addition and subtraction facts to students with and without disabilities. This isn't a book of drill sheets - this is a workbook with a purpose! Two Plus Two is Not Five presents an instructionally sound and effective "twist" on the mundane task of rote learning math facts that will keep students engaged while becoming proficient and confident. If I could only have one math resource in my elementary classroom - this would be it.
